Michele Portoghese Penne Rigate No.706 - 500g
PASTA MICHELE PORTOGHESE - Artisan pasta hailing from Florence, Tuscany. Where art and taste come together, creating something unique.
Pasta Michele Portoghese have been creating pasta in the same way for generations. Selected grains, with a high gluten content, mixed with cold water create a unique firmness and flavour to the pasta.
Extruded through bronze dies, the pasta maintains just the right roughness to cling to all kinds of sauce.
Through generations of traditional pasta making methods, this art is now guaranteed from plate to plate with state-of-the-art quality controls and the perfect balance of specially selected durum wheat semolina.
The delicate drying process is kept at a low temperature for up to 120 hours, which notably affects both the taste and protein content (14.1g protein per 100g) resulting in a pasta with a high nutritional value and an exceptional flavour & texture.
Michele Portoghese Penne Rigate No.706 - 500g
Penne translates to the word “pen”, being a short cylinder of pasta with angled edges which resembles a quill. “Rigate” describes the ridges on the side giving texture to help capture more sauce.
Part of the short pasta family, it is one of the most popular shapes in the world and pairs well with just about any dish.
Our favourite is a Penne all' Amatriciana, a tomato based sauce with Guanciale and a kick of chilli.
