Sapori Panforte Pistacchio, Pistachio Cake with Almonds and Candied Citrus Fruits 280g
This Panforte is made with whole pistachios, sweet almonds, candied melon and citron blended together to create a unique dough that is still rolled out by hand today to ensure the authenticity of the flavour.
Panforte is a traditional Italian Christmas fruitcake that originated in Siena, Tuscany. It's made with a combination of dried fruit, nuts, spices, flour, and a cooked honey-sugar syrup, and has a chewy texture sweet flavour
Originating as an ancient Sienese dessert called “panmelato”, the original recipe was enriched when the “speziali”, ancient pharmacists, added precious spices from the East. Then in 1879, pharmacist Galgano Parenti, created a new version of panforte and dedicated it to Queen Margherita of Savoy, visiting Siena for the Palio in August.
Since then, Panforte Margareita has contained, whole sweet almonds, orange peel, melon, candied citron blended together to create a unique dough, always hand-rolled to guarantee all the authenticity of the taste.
Ingredients
Melon and candied citron 36% (melon, glucose-fructose syrup, citron 9%, sugar, acidifier: citric acid), WHEAT flour, sugar, PISTACHIOS 10%, ALMONDS 6%, glucose-fructose syrup, icing sugar 3% (sugar, corn starch), starch wafers (potato starch, water, sunflower oil), flavourings.
May contain traces of other NUTS, MUSTARD and SOY.
